Eye Exam

WHEN TO HAVE YOUR EYES EXAMINED

A routine eye exam should be performed every one to two years. The initial exam not only establishes your baseline prescription, but it also can rule out or often find other unknown conditions. Glaucoma, for example, mostly has no symptoms, yet if left untreated, it can cause permanent vision loss. If detected early enough, it can almost always be brought under control.

A patient with a lazy eye otherwise known as amblyopia., many times also may not exhibit symptoms, yet if detected early enough, this too can be successfully treated. There are a lot of other health conditions that can be found during a routine eye exam.

Once a baseline has been established it is a good idea to routinely see your eye doctor in order to make sure any future problems that might arise can be treated as early and effectively as possible. Technology is also always changing, and many times new and improved modes of treatment become available.
